Channel 4 News is doing some research on Residential Parenting Assessment Units and is looking to hear from families who have had direct experience with these units. Below is the request from Channel 4:

Dear Mam, as far as I am concerned ITV are conveniently skipping around how the Families got to this state in their lives(residential Assessments).. Could it it be pointed out to ITV that the parents are doing everything possible to co-operate and yet have the children taken. REGARDING the BBC programmes, in each case the MOTHERS appeared to be more “well dressed” and content with what they “consented”to at the end of the programme.. WHAT would have happened if Social Services took the mothers away from their close ties and moved them to another City(no temptation). Famous people go to Rehab. What help did these sad women get to help them in their addictions. I AGREE that in EACH case there was DOUBT, AGAIN I say that if the mothers and children were removed from their current environment things could have been different. I noted that one of the women has become pregnant again. Social Services will DESCEND upon her to daily feast upon her unborn child so as to wound the mother and take away her child.

When ever a TV documentry is shown re the social services families and children, they only seem to show the people who are on drugs or alcohol and full of tattoos, so of course society are going to look at a program and comment, Oh yes, those children need to be in care, poor social services what a hard job they have, I agree some of the time, but what about one million grandparents who could give a secure home with love and do not take drink or drugs, many have to be assessed so they may apply to the court for a care order for the child, well low and behold, quess what, it is written, most of the old dears drink and take drugs. And so another child is sold into the foster care system. When the full power is taken from the social services and the lies stop that is when children will get a life. And for the information of all It is well known social services have more power then the police. In actuel fact social services are involved in every part of this country the prisoners, babies, elderly, mentally ill, hospitals you name and they are there, and they only answer to them self’s. You have to pay thousands of pounds to sit in the closed family courts to know the truth, then walk out with a broken heart with no where to turn to and never seeing you children/grandchildren again. And all say in a childs best interest. Those children are sent to a stranger they lose their toys and all, then are moved from home to home stranger to strangers, All for the big bucks.
yes I Agree as The SS Filed my mothers viability assessment within 2hours after one meeting and no home visit it is apparent that the SW had already made her mind up about my mother as she told her she wasn’t going to like what was written in it Their are huge holes in our case and 90 percent of their threshold is based on lies and fabricated information

I have expierienced a parenting assesment unit first hand they are extremley currpt and unfair for example if a member of staff takes a particular disliking to somone they would offten make things up and write them in reports they would I Had a c section and after goin into the PAU i was recovoring as i had stictches but yet they still had me dragging hovers up and down the stairs claiming if i didnt carry it i wudent be priorortising my childs needs and could fail my assesment following this my stitches split became infected Us girls were even mentally abused by members of staff wud offten make comments like “u are smelly” during my assesment I became ill with postnatal depresion despite me begging and pleading them to get me some help the manager just claimed i was making exuses and reffered back to which I believe may be their favourite comment prioritise your childs needs following them not getting me medical help my mood went on a downward spiral and eventaully drove me too leave the unit now as a result of this my little girl is in care I honestly think these places are digusting I will never forget the way we was all treated.

I personally have had involvement with these residential parenting assessments units. Me and my daughters were moved there because they felt i needed assisted with the day to day of parenting three young children, when really i needed help and support leaving my ex husband. Anyway me and my girls went there without there father, and it was horrible. We were given a room, with a double bed, a cot and two single beds. Every time it was time for breakfast, lunch and dinner I had to call a member of staff so they could assess me and my family at meal times, and while we were eating they would write down every little thing that me or my children were doing, each time i wanted to change my youngest nappy a member of staff would come and watch me, and the same came with me bathing my children.
As soon as me and my children had entered the parenting unit had already made their mind that my daughters were not returning back in the community with me. These places work closely with social services and you are constantly judged.. They don’t help families they destroy families.. When I read the reports from that place which I have kept, I’m disgusted by what they write, instead of supporting me they destroyed my family by deciding that it’s best that my girls go into foster care.. The system is pathetic..
We’re so sorry to hear this. Yes, the system needs to spend more time helping families, rather than looking to remove children from parents where unnecessary.
Im about to lose my 3years old son because of my social workerand her reason are because they took my daugther two years ago and i told my son to stop copying a noise i was making and because i ruffled his hair to get the sand out. as soon as i watched a recent segment on channel 4 news i contacted phill via email and havnt heard anything back i really need help they cant seriouly take my son jus for that. i need help or some advice anything to show the judge and anyone what social workers are doing.

Loui v. I am so sorry that you fell into the hands of social services. There is no end to their cruelty. From what you say they seem determined to take your child by any means. What annoys me is how the Judges accept their word as fact in their secret reports to the Court and to which you have no defence as in the case within my family. I will pray that you win against them.
Lol my storys well too long! But social services have no right to do what they do to innocent familys. Drag professionals like Phciatrists and Phycologists into the picture to make people look worse and keep ur child longer. As for parent classes, half the social workers out there have not even got children of their own but they know whats best!!! JOKE.
